To encourage healthy eating among low-income Michigan families, the Fair Food Network is launching a new program Saturday.

The program, called "Double Up Food Bucks," will provide people who use bridge cards with food assistance benefits at five Detroit farmers' markets.

Bridge card holders who shop at these markets will have the money they spend matched dollar-for-dollar with bonus tokens to purchase produce. Consumers may receive up to $20 in tokens each time they shop.

Participating locations include the Detroit Eastern Market, Northwest Detroit Farmers' Market, East Warren Avenue Farmers' Market, Peaches & Greens Store and Wayne State University Farmers' Markets.
